Note from Programming Chair |
SEAHO Members That Submitted A Program Proposal for the SEAHO 2006 Conference.
I have been made aware that several program proposals were written and submitted for consideration for the SEAHO 2006 conference that unfortunately were never received, and thus not considered by the program committee. This occurred as a result of the installation of new security hardware at the University of Alabama in Huntsville that had been pre-set by the manufacturer. This security server was “blocking” much more incoming information than the University had intended for it to do. As a result there were several off-campus email messages that were never received and, as I have been told, could never be retrieved.
I and other members of the Program Committee have received calls and email messages from SEAHO members asking about the status of a program submittal, and the requester asking why they had not been notified of their status. The fact is that the committee most likely was not aware that a program had been submitted.
I deeply regret that this has occurred, and hope that you will understand that this is in no way the responsibility nor should it be a reflection of the excellent work of the SEAHO Governing Council, the Host Committee, or the Program Committee. This is an institutional matter, one that I am most embarrassed by and apologize for.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at maxonj@uah.edu, or call me at (256) 824-2706.
Sincerely,
John Maxon
Program Committee Chair
