International Employment
Welcome! The International Employment Office (IE) assists the University to sponsor international employees both for non-immigrant visas ( H-1Bs, TNs, Os), business and visitor visas (B-1s, B-2s, and visa waivers); and immigration petitions ("green cards"). IE stays current with relevant US Citizenship and Immigrant Service (USCIS, formerly INS), Department of State, and Department of Labor regulations and policies, and provides education to the university community to facilitate understanding and compliance.
Training Classes: Employment Of Foreign Nationals
It is an employee's responsibility to maintain his/her legal immigration and employment status. However, hiring departments should monitor the expiration of visas and employment authorization documents to assist with compliance. This class covers what a hiring department needs to know.
Personal Interview with USCIS about your case: If you ever need to visit USCIS, you must schedule an appointment. Now you can schedule an appointment using Infopass, the on-line scheduler.
Check Your Case Status Online: Questions regarding your case? Now you can check your case status on-line. You can even register your e-mail address from this link to receive an automatic update when your case is processed.
Change of Address: All foreign nationals (permanent and children) are required to report any change in address within 10 days to USCIS using Form AR11.
Note: Notify the International Employment office of your new address, too.
The Office of International Services (OIS) continues to deal with J and F visa issues.
Visa and Payment Chart: For a quick reference guide regarding whether you can pay someone at NC State in a nonimmigrant visa classification, please see the visa and payment chart . This chart deliberately does not go into great detail, nor does it cover all scenarios, and is only meant to be a quick reference guide for initial consultation. Please contact Jill Guzman in IE, Michelle Anderson in Payroll, or the OIS office as necessary to get additional information and guidance regarding payment of foreign nationals at NC State.
