Shared Leave Procedures
The voluntary Shared Leave policy allows one state employee to assist another state employee affected by a personal or immediate family member's medical condition. These conditions require absence from work for a prolonged period of time, resulting in a possible loss of income due to a lack of accumulated leave.
If an employee is donating bonus or annual leave (vacation) to another employee on shared leave, then the Leave Administrator needs to:
- first verify that the employee has the appropriate number of hours to donate
- then decrease the type of leave (bonus/annual) the employee is donating by the number of hours donated.
For the employee receiving the donated leave, the Leave Administrator must submit a transaction to increase the sick hours by the number of hours donated.
