EPA Types of Appointments
Time-Limited
Time-limited, full time EPA appointments are for persons who will be employed more than three months and are .75 FTE (full time equivalency) or greater. Time-Limited employees are employed for a short period of time, no more than two years, with the exception of Post-Doctoral employees who may have appointments of up to five years.

Post-Doctoral
Individuals who have obtained their doctorate degrees may be appointed to Post-doctoral (Post Doc) positions for the primary purpose of supplementing their academic training. Although these appointments are temporary in nature, certain aspects are similar to those of University employees.
The Employees Exempt from the State Personnel Act (EPA) Policy provides additional information concerning Post Doc appointments in addition to information on other appointment types including employment "at will", fixed-term and visiting appointments.
