TSERS Retirement Guidelines
Review the Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System Retirement Guide for SPA or EPA (whichever applies) for helpful information you will need when you retire from the University.
Schedule an appointment with your Benefits Counselor to discuss your benefits in detail. Thoroughly review the Continuation of Benefits section provided in the Retirement Guide.
Shortly before their retirement date, TSERS participants will receive in the mail

- An estimate of retirement benefits
- An Election of Benefit Form (Form 6-E) *must be signed in presence of a Notary
- Federal and NC State Tax Form (Ret. 290)
- Immediately complete forms and return to TSERS to avoid delays in receiving retirement benefits.
Note: Notary Services are provided in the Benefits Office.
