Deciding to Retire
Employees are eligible to apply for benefits from the Teachers and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS):
- at age 65 with 5 years of service
- at the age of 60 with 25 years of service, or
- at any age with 30 years of service.
An employee planning to retire is expected to notify his or her supervisor at least 60 days prior to the effective date to allow sufficient time for transition of work and processing of personnel and payroll actions. A retiring employee should also contact the department/unit's benefits counselor.
