2010-2013 Phased Retirement Program: Continue the Legacy!
On February 12, 2008, the nation’s first Baby Boomer made history as the first of her generation to receive a Social Security retirement benefit. Over the next two decades, Social Security Administration expects over 80 million Americans to file for retirement.
One dilemma NC State faces is how to effectively pass on the legacy of outstanding teaching and research to the current generation, as faculty prepare to retire. The Phased Retirement Program (PRP) is a great opportunity for faculty to retire without completely severing professional and social bonds that have been developed over years.
The PRP gives eligible, tenured faculty the opportunity to retire, yet continue half-time employment for a three-year contract period. What better opportunity is there to stay involved in passing on the legacy, and enjoy the benefits of retirement at the same time?
A Phased Retirement Program information session is scheduled for Friday, October 30, 2009, in room 3118 of the Talley Student Center. To register, enter your name and email address, and click Submit. You will receive an email confirming your registration.
