AMS INDUSTRY/GOVERNMENT GRADUATE FELLOWSHIPS

SPONSORING AGENCY: American Meteorological Society (AMS)

PURPOSE:

AMS/Industry/Government Graduate Fellowships are sponsored by industry leaders and government agencies and are designed to attract promising young scientists to prepare for careers in the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic fields.

FIELDS:

• Meteorological science
• Oceanic science
• Hydrologic science
• Students studying chemistry, computer sciences, engineering, environmental sciences, mathematics, and physics who intend to pursue careers in the atmospheric, oceanic, or hydrologic sciences

ELIGIBILITY:

• Applicants must entering their first year of graduate study in the fall of 2008 and provide evidence of acceptance as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. institution at the time of the award
• Applicants must pursue a related full-time course of study in the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences
• Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0-point scale
• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or hold permanent resident status

EVALUATION AND SELECTION:

Awards are based on the applicant's performance as an undergraduate student and his or her qualifications to pursue a career in the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrologic sciences.

STIPEND: $23,000
