Other Expenses:
- Purchasing a Computer? : While NC State does not require
students to purchase computers, some colleges or majors require computer
purchases and you may wish to do so even if not required by your academic
curriculum. If you have applied for financial aid and anticipate purchasing a
computer, the OSFA can include the cost of a computer when considering you for
financial aid only if you purchase the computer during the summer preceding
your fall enrollment or after the fall semester begins. You will be asked to
provide documentation of the purchase price to the OSFA and specifically
request funding for this expense. Generally, only federal and private loan
assistance will be available to cover the cost of this purchase. If you are
planning to purchase a computer, we recommend you check out the following
website:
www.ncsu.edu/it/compspecs/ for a listing of recommended computer
specifications and college requirements.
- Expenses Related to a Disability : If you have un-reimbursed expenses
(special services, personal assistance, transportation, equipment, supplies, etc.) related
to a disability, you should document those in writing to the NC State Office of
Scholarships and Financial Aid.
- Distance Education Costs: You should be aware that
courses taken through NC State's Distance
Education programs are billed at a different rate than courses taken on
campus. Students who take Distance Education courses exclusively or in
combination with regular term course work may
have their financial aid awards adjusted based on the actual charges incurred.
If you plan to take Distance Education Course Work, you should contact your
financial aid adviser to determine how your financial aid eligibility will be
impacted.
- Interest-Free Monthly Payment Plan : If you would like to pay your education expenses monthly, use the
Interest-Free Monthly Payment Option offered by our partner, Tuition Management Systems. The payment option is available for a small enrollment fee and includes personal account service and counseling, automated account information 24 hours a day, access to your
account through their web site,
www.afford.com/ncsu
and even gives you a chance to win a Tuition Management Systems
Scholarship. Visit the Tuition
Management Systems web site for more information on payment options, education loans, free education payment counseling and the many ways they can help you afford education.
