The Crafts Center

The Crafts Center is an extraordinary 20,000 plus square foot educational facility. Considered to be one of the finest on any university campus, The Crafts Center has served students and the community for over four decades! Students can participate in any of more than 100 classes offered annually in art, pottery, photography, fibers, woodworking, glass, lapidary, telescope mirror making, and more. Classes, weekend workshops, and short courses are offered at all levels for the beginning student as well as the accomplished artist.

Work side by side with other students, staff, faculty and community artists and gain inspiration while utilizing studio space in wood, clay, glass, metals, lapidary, optics, photography or weaving. The Crafts Center Gallery showcases both traditional and contemporary craft exhibitions, many featuring the enormous breadth of artistic talent found in our region. Everyone is invited to become a member of this supportivew artists community! The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, providing a great place to meet people, to share new experiences and to learn about the creative process. *"New Works" of the Triangle Potter's Guild -- February 9 - March 28, 2004
*Opening, Reception and Pot Adoption*, Thursday, March 4, 5-7PM

Spring in The Crafts Center Gallery emerges through the clay works of the Triangle Potter's Guild. This regional craft guild was founded in 1981 by a group of local potters to better serve the areas of buregoning interest in the ceramic arts. The guild continues to advance the study and exploration of this medium. Current members range from novice throwers and hand-builders to professional studio ceramists and collectors. A dynamic group, the Triangle Potter's Guild exhibits at local festivals like Artsplosure, the Sanford Pottery Festival, and the NC State Fair as well as providing assistance with humanitarian efforts such as the "empty bowls" project to feed the homeless. Members of the guild are currently involved in coordinating a multi-guild exhibition and sale representing craft guilds statewide April 10, in the Holshauser Building, aka the "Village of Yesteryear", at the state fairgrounds in Raleigh. The Triangle Potter's Guild meets at The Crafts Center on the first Tuesday of each month from 7:30-9:30pm. (www.trianglepotters.org) Visitors are welcome to join the meeting!

2004 Windhover - 10th Annual Exhibition!

April 19 - May 6

The 2004 edition of Windhover, NCSU's Literary Magazine, will be unveiled at this exhibition featuring originals of some of the work presented int his year's publication. Join students, alumni, and faculty for the reception and poetry reading on April 28, from 5-7pm, in The Crafts Center Gallery.
