WHAT COURSES ARE AVAILABLE IN MUSIC?
The Music Department at NC State University offers a variety of
courses, many of which may be taken to fulfill general education
requirements. Any course may be taken as a free elective. For the
more advanced student, a music minor is available, designed for
the qualified undergraduate student wishing to engage in the serious
study of music with a curricular framework. Three emphases are offered:
Theory/Composition, History/Literature, and Performance (brass,
woodwind, piano, percussion, voice and strings). A bachelor of arts
degree with a focus in music is available through the Arts Studies
Program.
WHAT ENSEMBLES DOES THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT HAVE?
The university currently has four bands, including marching and
pep bands, four choirs, two orchestras, and two jazz ensembles,
in addition to piano and guitar classes and the Pipes and Drums.
ARE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE?
The Music Department currently has ten scholarships and a half dozen
endowments and are working to build more everyday. If you want to
play in an ensemble, there may be financial help for you. Contact
