What is the difference in the Dance
Team and the NCSU Dance Co.?
The Dance Team is sponsored by Club Sports in Intramurals.
The Dance Team’s primary purpose is to entertain at ballgames.
The philosophical intent of the NCSU Dance Company is very different.
The purpose of the NCSU Dance Co. is to create and perform modern
dance works that demonstrate sound craft, effective performance,
artistic vision, and contain content that captivates, comments,
informs, and elicits intellectual and emotional responses in its
audiences.
How much and when does the NCSU Dance Co. rehearse?
Approximately 6-13 hours/week, depending on how
much work a student is cast in. Rehearsals are M/W/F afternoons,
Tues. nights, every other Sat. 9-1.
How much and when does DanceVisions rehearse?
4-7 hours/week. Rehearsals are Mon. 5:30-7:30 and
Wed. 5-7, and every other Sat. 9-1.
When are the auditions?
DanceVisions audition is in early fall. The NCSU
Dance Co. holds an audition late spring for the following academic
year, and then another audition in early fall for the same academic
year.
