How could you use the ARTS at NC State to enhance
your classroom experience? Is your class studying an issue that
is the subject matter of one of our plays? Are you teaching on a
culture reflected in one of the ARTS musical presentations?
Each year the ARTS Outreach office puts together
a faculty curricular guide. This guide outlines ways that you can
make the arts a part of your classroom experience.
We invite you to explore the Curricular Connections
Guide and consider the possibilities it opens up for you and your
students. For instance, you may be inspired to:
- encourage your students to attend the arts event
- provide extra credit for attendance
- utilize the performance as a resource to enhance
your course instruction
- schedule an in-class discussion or lecture led
by a visiting artist or an ARTS NC STATE faculty or staff member

Fall Curricular Guide
The ARTS NC STATE Curricular Connections Guide connects
academic courses at North Carolina State University with the semester'sl
arts events, including Center Stage performances, a Crafts Center
exhibition, Gallery of Art & Design events and exhibitions,
a Music Department concert, and University Theatre productions.
The Guide lists arts events in chronological order;
the entry for each event includes time, location, and ticket information,
event description, and curricular connections. An appendix in the
Guide lists all ARTS NC STATE events for the academic year.
It is the intent of the office of Arts Outreach in
developing the Curricular Connections Guide to engage North Carolina
State University faculty in the ARTS NC STATE program events by
forming meaningful, logical links between the substance of academic
courses and the content of ARTS NC STATE events. This engagement
can take the form of event attendance, pre- or post-concert discussions
or lectures from program members, or in-class workshops with ARTS
NC STATE faculty and students. Let us know if you have questions
or suggestions, and be sure to
LET US KNOW how well it worked for your class.
